    Discovery 2 Engine Swap

I have an 2000 Discovery 2 Td5, The motor is stuffed but if i replaced it with the same year model, will it be fine with the ecu? or do i have to fix that up as well?

Its an manual too, any help will be great

    Thanks

While we're waiting for the gurus, I "think" you'll need to tell the ECU the numbers of the injectors in the new engine, or use your old injectors installed in the same order they are now. I'm not 100% on that.

Yes you are correct the injector numbers will need to be programmed into the ecu with a nanocom or similar

    As above, your options
1: remove r/c and write down the code written on top of each inj and cyl number on the new engine program with scan tool
2: swap old inj into new motor in the same order if no scan tool
3: do above number 1 , get it running ( it will run as the codes are more for idle trim ) and drive to somewhere that can program them for you
For all of the above you will need a new r/c gasket for a 10 p engine , if your doing number 2 you want new injector washers and O rings as well

It will also be best to replace the rear crankshaft oil seal with genuine and do the oil pump bolt on any second hand engine before you fit.

I'm sure that there will be some one close enough with a Nanocom
