ideas for improving my cargo space

Hi guys. I'm looking for ideas on how to improve my cargo storage area. I'm not really sure what I want.
The drawers came with the car and appears to be hand made, the whole thing can come out, and it weights about 100kg!

I want to add a fridge in here, but putting it on top would be too high.
So i'm thinking of cutting the top off one of the drawers and putting the fridge in there, but i doubt it would slide well.
or remove the whole thing and not using drawers.

I do have a cargo barrier which as you can see isnt in at the moment.

    ideas?

    thanks

You could use a drop down fridge slider.

I made a storage frame for mine a few years ago. It gets removed for normal use and fitted when we do trips. Total weight of the empty frame is about 80Kg, so still not light.

How you set your truck up will usually depend entirely on how you intend to use it and how deep your pockets are.
Rear drawers are a great idea If you need to store a large amount of equipment or tools full time But if you use the truck 99% of the time as a daily driver then you really don't need to carry that much gear all the time.
Many people just get some heavy duty plastic containers that they chuck in the back for the occasional trip away and when they get home the containers are taken out and stored for next time.
A fridge in the back is not only invaluable on a trip or even a weekender But it is also very handy to put those frozen items into when coming home from a shopping trip, Nothing worse than melted icy poles.
The problem I can see with your drawers is that I can't see anywhere to tie down a fridge as the last thing you need is for that to be whacking you in the back of the head in case of a prang or simply sliding about on some of the rougher tracks and damaging itself and other gear.

As I am setting my D2 up primarily as a touring vehicle I have removed ALL the rear seats as I have No use for them as I don't carry passengers and that lets me fit in more gear, I can also put most of the heavy stuff on the floor just behind the front seats instead of at the back of the truck which gives me a better weight distribution.

So like I said, It depends on how you intend to use your Disco as to how it should be set up because everyone has different needs and requirements

Yep, as others have said it depends on how many people you carry and if it's permanent or removable.
When we had the D1 and there were just two of us I folded up the second row seats and tied the fridge down to reach it by opening the driver's side rear door. When home we just removed the fridge and put it all back.
In the Defender we have it tied down in the back to eyelets fitted into the top of the drawers. I fitted a rear step so the wife can step up and open the fridge.
Fridge slides are expensive. Also having a slide would mean the fridge would block the rear door.
Some people fit a gullwing side window to reach the fridge, so that's also expensive.
100 kg is a lot of weight for drawers. My ORS aluminum drawer is only 45 kg.

So put the fridge inside one of the rear side doors and you're set to load up.
