Hi all,
It appears the bonnet cable is pulled through or broken on my 2004 D2 TD5 at front end, any thoughts on how to release bonnet would be appreciated.
Thanks for any advice.

Chance cable is intact but latch is not centralised in catch. If you haven’t alread, apply force to bonnet in varying directions whilst offsider pulls cable.
I think many ‘stretched cables’ are actually misaligned latches or bonnets.
The one that I fixed wasn't stretched as such, a small white nylon spacer at the latch had reached its use-by date and shattered.
Beware the “stretched” cable. The end loop of my cable became detached from the hook on the latch mechanism during one ripper long weekend in the Wonnangatta area of the Vic High Country doing lots of tracks. I had to smash that hard to get at and super tough black plastic tamper shield to gain access to the release mechanism. During the process I discovered that there is actually an adjustment available at the pull lever end of the release cable to take up any slack in the cable. An ounce of prevention is an ounce of cure and the tamper shield is easily removed when the bonnet is open by drilling out the pop rivets holding it in place - do it before you have to...

Trouble opening the bonnet and arrrrgh, thought the cable had broken or stretched, found this solution, but found something worse... The latch (yellow bit) had bent up to such a degree that it was touching on the bonnet before being able to unlatch! Quick poke with a flat stick and bent it down, easy as and opens easily.
