    v8 fuel pump,vacuum in tank

Have had the d2 parked up for a couple of months, went to start it and wont start, checked the spark and it has spark.so i suspect fuel pump has finally packed it in by not being used,300000 km's on pump.hooked up the msv2 and it states that fuel pump is turned on i guess this means that it has power just no pumping.the thing that is confusing me is there is a reading of -vacuum in the tank.is this vacuum caused by the fuel pump and if so wouldn't it mean the pump is working.Cant hear it working but never have.

Leave ign on get under tank and belt the tank with a rubber mallet and listen for the pump.
This can kick start the fuel pump into life

No the fuel pump.is relay driven.

    Check the relay.

The vacuum is usually caused by the fuel cooling if your cap is not venting inwards.

The fuel cap should allow the tank to prrssurise.but not form a vaccum.

There is a shrader valve on the fuel rail at the rear of the engine. Open it whilst someone else turns the engine over. You'll know if the pump is working then.

Loosten your fuel cap and see if the pump works as this will remove any vaccume from the tank.
If this works then your problem lies in the fuel cap or the vent
