Tom Woods front drive shaft fitment

I bought a brand new Tom Woods front drive shaft last week and installed it on the weekend. I have a question regarding the fitment though.
I have included a picture so you can see.
To anyone that has installed one on there D2, does that much of the spline showing look right to you? Also should there be some sort of dust cover to stop water and dirt getting in there?

    Thanks
    Chris

It doesn't look right to me, as the socket for the splines is not all that much longer.

I assume the weight of the car is on the wheels.

How much spline was open on your previous shaft?

    Regards Philip A

Check the compressed length and extended length against your stock shaft. They should be pretty much the same.

I bought a Tom Woods shaft direct from US for a D2 many years ago
It didnt have that much spline exposed on a level surface.
When I ordered it I quoted the distance between the the flanges
Perhaps send your pics to TW in US for an opinion
Mine didnt have a boot on the spline

The new shaft did require balancing as it introduced a vibtration. I was surprised a brand new shaft would arrive out of balance

That is with the disco sitting on level ground. By the looks of it, it wouldn't take much for it to pop out when off roading. I bought it here in Hallam. So I might need to get on to them and see what they say.
Thought I would check here first to see if anyone had the same problem.

So that looks quite similar to mine. Do you have a 2 inch lift? Have you had any issues with it?
    Thanks

Yeah running 3 inch lift twin locked and remap not had an problem with it
Just you need to grease it every single time you go through water or mud as per the paper work with the prop shaft
