Vibes, particularly at idle which can be hard to notice if you drive the car all the time as it increases over time, and there's a hole in the base which should have 8-10mm clearance between the steel shell and the rubber, when they're collapsed the rubber is almost touching or sitting on that shell, which is why you get the increased NVH.

Yep, my step dad hadn't noticed it in their car as it slowly gets worse but I felt it instantly as it was nearly 18 months between drives for me.
Once you change them you go this is the car it used to be!

If a customer asks me to fit the cheapy mounts from various sources I honour them with the exact same quality warranty I provide for customers who self supply Brit part parts.

Just to add to Rick's
Have it idling then get a jack and soft wood or rubber under the sump and take some weight off the engine,
go back in the cab and see if it's better.
The mounts not only absorb the engine vibes , if you were to go for a drive down a rough road with the bonnet off you'd be amazed how much movement there is in the engine with good mounts, making everything better on rough roads

Better for everyone if you refused to fit them in the first place surely?
Britparts are a supplier , not a manufacturer , you can get OEM in Britpart boxes

I found myself thinking about changing cars while I was driving my D2a. That was strange for me as I've typically been very satisfied with it. I realised then that the reason was it was feeling rough - vibrations through it and noisey. These had just crept in over time and slowly built up rather than being a sudden change.

Following a post on here I got underneath and checked the engine mounts through their bottom inspection holes - the rubber was right down at the hole meaning that they were done. A new genuine set in and the car felt so fresh! Amazing just what a difference it made!

yes but its like a box of chocolates.......


and as the mechanic sometimes I just have to do what the customer wants, But so far, I've never had to replace a brit part part under the warranty terms I offer with them.

Is that the good old "concrete" warranty? Once it leaves the concrete shed slab, no more warranty!
