G'day Pedro
(on a DI at least) these drains are accessible from underneath, but mot easy to locate. If my memory doesn't fail me completely they are located near the wheel arch. No plug or duck tail valve, just a tiny D-shaped opening. Let me crawl underneath the truck and check out when I get back home this weekend (will take a bit longer thatn your desired 60sec, though).

Watching with interest - I had water on the passenger floor after heavy rain recently. I havent opened the sunroof on my D1 for years as I fear it will die while half open. It is the one thing I dont like about the car. Can someone enlighten me - the drains in the sunroof are there because the sunroof seals are designed to leak?

Have been underneath the truck, but need to get out the high pressure cleaner first

Apparently, on a DII, these drain pipes are behind the rear lights. Haven't located these on my DI yet, but most likely they are located similarly. Has been a while since they caught my attention...

For those who can speak German, I have the Land Rover Water Ingress Manual P/N LRL0173GER for the D1. I'm not sure if it is for fixing leaks or creating new ones.

Land Rover Owner International also put out a Defender feature magazine which inluded a long section on waterproofing a Defender a couple of years ago, which may be available on back order through their website. I have it in a box somewhere. I know its not for a D1, but it had some interesting ideas in it.

From memory, the key points on a Defender were:
The joint between the flat roof and the sloping front section
The gutters
The point on the front doors where it bends from an angle to vertical and the door seals can leak.
I used clear silicon on mine for the first two.
Parking nose up on slight uphill also helps, as the water runs to the rear.
Make sure the drains for the wing vents are not blocked.
Maybe others have other suggestions.
