Hi, I'm assuming this means the hole in the timing cover is flogged out?
Noticed I had plenty of wobble in the fan so I've replaced the fan bearing with a new SKF one. Unfortunately after I shrunk it into place there's still a ton of slop

Before I had a Land Rover I did not have any torque wrenches. Now I have three.

..... by “shrunk it in to place” i assume that it was necessary to freeze it to be able to insert it into the housing. Was it a sliding fit going in or did it also require application of heat to the housing to get it seated ? ....also did you refit the retaining circlip?

That's not good.
The bearing will be spining in the housing and flogging it out more, it needs to be an interference fit.
In cases of only being rightly loose, e.g. a push/slide fit, Loctite bearing retainer will work, otherwise the bore will have to be sleeved or the housing replaced.
I had a housing like that a few years ago. To get out of trouble, as I was not in a position to replace housing, I drilled and tapped 3 holes (M6 from memory) on housing at 120 degree spacing and inserted short screws. They were only nipped up enough to stop the outer race from rotating and locked with a jam nut. Not a perfect fix, but got me out of trouble. Charlie
