    Viscous fan.

I need one, Mario informed me that he currently cannot get Borg Warner ones. What others are available and are there any to steer clear of?
    TIA.

Clean the bi-metal spring and top it up with oil while you wait for the good one.

or two .. on opposite sides of the hub. Last thing you need is it to be a bit unbalanced too.

I've been looking on how to 'top it up with oil' for a while now and haven't found any info on the TD5 viscous. Looks like it has to be destroyed to be 'rebuilt'(or something)

@ Ian .. when you do get around to replacing it, whilst you're there double check your fan bearing for any slackness in it too. Obviously belt off to check it but any play will be obvious and you want none of it.
    Arthur.

All these discos are giving me a heart attack!

FWIW,I believe the Puma Defender runs the same fan,if that helps.

Probably not, unless there is a Ford equivalent, but I doubt it.

And trying to find anything second hand for a Puma is harder than trying to find rocking horse poo.

If you get desperate, there is always MR auto.

Good point. I've not done a TD5 one, just patrol and crewsers. I have a spare, so I might take a look.

Very good advice, makes a hell of a mess if they let go

Yep, Toyota silicon fluid in the Nissan TD42T viscous is the go to reduce/stop overheating, but we digress as they are repairable and the TD5 one doesn't appear to be?
