    You might be onto something Roger. The boost gets to .72 bar, under heavy acceleration then instantly drops back to 60.

    You should be seeing at least 1.2 bar.

    There should be about 11-
    12 threads visible on the actuator rod, if it's more than that it needs shortening.

    I adjusted it about 12 months ago, got to a max of 1.2.

    You can change to 1.5 Bar with a standard TD5. I haven’t done this mod but would be interested in having a go.

    Td5 Disco2 Vs Defender

    I was under the impression that the Disco had a waste gate modulator and the Defender just had a boost operated wastegate. If that is the case I am not sure how you would compare one to the other.

    They both have a wastegate actuator that is operated on by boost pressure and ambient pressure.

    The D2 auto has an electric modulator (controlled by the engine ECU) in-between the boost supply , ambient supply and the actuator.

    This allows turbo surge to be actively mapped out, whilst also allowing max boost levels to be achieved without compromise elsewhere.

    I've had the modulator go and that was the symptoms pretty well, it would surge, go ok then gutless then ok etc

    If you download and put Tunerpro RT on your computer (if you haven't already, it is free) and get the XDF files from his website after you get a login (he deserves a donation for his efforts) it is a piece of cake to start playing around with adding those settings in, you just follow by the numbers as you can see those entries in plain english and change the numbers in the table to suit.

    The extra boost even with stock fueling gives a seat of pants improvement. Well, it felt like it to my arse anyway.

    I'm going to bite the bullet, replacing the modulator and vacuum hoses. Question, is the vacuum hose metric or imperial and what total length is required?

    I pulled a hose section off and took it to the autoparts shop for them to match it, bought a metre of it as it is cheap.

    the takeoff nipple on the pipe from turbo going to the intercooler is a tad larger than the other fittings but a bit of lubing and wiggling the hose slips on fine.

    You can test the modulator by removing it and unpowered you can blow between the bottom (inlet) and side (to turbo) fittings, top fitting (to inlet hose pre turbo) should be sealed. Powered up the bottom inlet is sealed but now top and side fitting pass air.
