What is the point of doing this? And by doing this the transfer box will leak between it and the adapter as there was no sealing done on this join.
If the ring on the adapter fits neatly inside the t/case, (and it looks like it does) some Hylomar or better, Loctite 515 flange sealant would work well to seal the housings so no need for 2x seals

Been quite a while now since we have head any progress.

    Has there been any?
    Dave.

I was asked " Is it ignorance or apathy?" I replied "I don't know and I don't care."

It looks like industry are pushing forwards on this opportunity.

Seems like Will from House of Torque has asked Lawrance (and the machine) to push forward on the development of solutions for this conversion.

It sounds like the parts required for this conversion will be sold by House of Torque.

1st episode of the Td5/8HP conversion dropped today from Lawrance and the machine - this will be exciting stuff for those wanting a Td5 auto and proper HP!

    Cheers

Having watched that video, I have concerns about not having locating dowels on the adapter plate to engine.

He even mentions in the vid that you can't be sure that there is perfect alignment between adapter and crank.

You'd think with all the work it takes to make the adapters that it would be easy to add dowels.

I wonder how much it affects fuel economy ? The locking up in every gear has to help a lot with low speed running i would think.

My guess is a lot. I think the 4HP is also a pretty inefficient transmission, made worse by the torque converter used with it when mated to the Td5. Where the 8HP I thought was always locked up except when shifting.

My question also was how much cost difference is there between installing an N57/8HP compared to a Td5/8HP.
