    UPDATE

Well confirmation re the manufacturing of the Adaptor has now been completed.

Just waiting to make sure the LT230 adaptor can be delivered with the 8HP adaptor which should save a few hundred dollars of transport costs... Have also got the question asked as to what the final lengths of the two adaptors and 8HP compares to the stock 4HP and bellhousing of the D2.

HTG are still showing the Can IO is still not 'in stock' so this is either running behind in development or they have they have a backlog of orders. The website does still not show any pictures of the wiring loom either, so it could be this is holding up the order, HTG aren't great in information sharing I am finding.

MW Machines who are the ones in the youtube of the D2 with 8HP and Can IO have not gotten back to me from my September email and asked (politely) as to their findings in fitting the 8HP and Can IO.

Have asked again re the Gearbox mounts which they are supposedly going to be offering and see they are on FB (which I am banned and so have no access) which may have more information than the website which primarily deals with the installation of the M57 and 8HP. The mounts are supposedly non weld which is obviously an enormous benefit in fitting.

Suppose should have asked the question as to the difference between the defender and D2 when fitted with the TD5 and manual gearbox, do they share the same bellhousing / total length? If they are then the adaptors and 8HP should be a perfect fit into the D2!

It would be great if MW Machines or someone just sold a kit with everything.
    Cheers

Same bellhousing / overall length, the mounts should fit.

ABSOLUTELY!!! Really think that Syncro themselves should be the one as they are selling the adaptors and as these are for only a small range of vehicles, it should almost be a no brainer they sell the adaptor with the gb mounts included.

Should have been the question I asked first instead of trying to search the net for all the lengths and trying to work it out that way. They have already shown that the Defender fits without issue of the LT230 being relocated.

Got a reply from Syncro and they tell me that the fitted 8HP with adaptors is LONGER...

Hmmm, that being the case the TC will be moved back about 35mm going on my basic calculations, they said to check with MW Machines who have still not replied regarding their gearbox mounts which they are going to be offering. Sort of disappointed in one respect that there may have been a way of saving some of the hassle with modified adaptors which come out to a total length of 188mm. Will do a search tomorrow on 8HP adaptors to the LT230 that other may make which could save those valuable mm's

Well if moving the TC back an inch or so, this means a shorter rear tail shaft and longer front shaft.

The Utah British double cardon front shaft I got did extend further than the original one (they do advertise it as long travel, see pic on website Discovery Front Driveshaft Drive Shaft TVB000110 (britishpartsofutah.com)) but they also do a spacer for the front shaft at 25mm at around $100 so this will not be an issue on that front I would guess, no modified driveshaft necessary there. Range Rover Discovery Defender Front Rear Driveshaft Spacer (britishpartsofutah.com)

Unsure of the best alternative for the rear drive shaft, maybe it is easier just to get this shortened. Can you just remove the Rotoflex and bolt the shaft to the diff flange...?

Well the adaptors are on there way, picked up and in transit. Syncro have been very good to deal with and have offered to put a word in to MW Machines in an effort to get some more information as to the install.

Have been looking up on the LT230 move and mountings for such. As a case in point, Les Richmond have a mount for their GM LS and auto which moves the LT230, 6L80 Trans Mounts LT230 - Chassis (lrautomotive.com.au)

Marks also have one for their adaptor which they state that is 60mm longer with the 6L80E and 95mm with the 9L80 - there are other issues with this one.

That said, it would appear that it is not uncommon for this move, just hoping it is off the shelf rather than making it from scratch.

HTG, well it has got me a little concerned at the moment. The HTG CAN Io and wiring harness are not on the boat so to speak and I have not had replies to emails. Had an interesting conversation with zero to 60 as to the choice of HTG versus Turbolamic and my choice of this over the Canctu standalone unit.

There is a video out there labelled Creating the 1st 8 speed Discovery 2, this was great except it already has the BMW engine and 6HP, he was just replacing the GB.

CREATING THE FIRST EVER 8 SPEED DISCOVERY 2 - YouTube

That said it still great to see how he installed the gearstick around the 9 minute mark and then when he takes it out for the drive, his impression of the 8HP against the previous 6HP.

His original install had the same idea of modifying the original shifter to put the gearstick in, I am still looking at doing this - the pic below is a cover plate of the 8HP on the D2 shifter.

Looking at covering the shifter plate with a plastic film of sorts once the cuts and filler have done. This will have to wait until I have the shifter installed.

Adaptors have landed in Melbourne, no reply from HTG...

Asked regarding the LT230 supports at Les Richmond and they tell me they are unsuitable, NEXT.

Marks 4wD are going to get back to me, do not require the whole kit of course, they do state

Note: The transfer case mounts have been designed to suit the LandRover Discovery 2 models, other models may require modifications to suit.

So hopefully they will sell just these mounts...

Using an RRC or early D1 flange and spacer you can then use the uni shaft from these models.
