That looks good. How will you install it? ie Alloy finish? coated? rubber mat? etc.

Ohh it is so late, you should be in bed!!

No will be coated with a vinyl wrap to match what is already installed, Walnut

    walnut vinyl trim.jpg

Not totally perfect with the standard walnut, arrived three days ago, but will not be jarring in that it is close enough would be hard to pick. The wrap is darker than the pic. Just $8, not so much a bargain but good.

Was not expecting that the plastic surrounds behind the window switches was to be included so that is nice as to not having to fit these to the finished article.

By the way, ordered the 1.003 diff ratio after getting the TC serial number, 41G for a 2000 D2, but then thought that getting the internals out, it would be stupid not get the ATB, put this on the never never, was an hour of should I or should I, NOT. Gee if you were going to Ashcroft Cross pin the TC, then against the cost of this, will repay the cost over the next couple of months.

The Hummer H1 had three ATB's and they went alright, no lockers - the drivers were taught to trail brake, they went alright across the globe in all terrain. Not getting lockers...

How do Ashcroft get the gear to AUS so quick, all the boxes arrived today and gee, as with the previous units I have gotten, the pieces are quality. Holding the ATB and the right decision was made. Now basically waiting just on the supports to be delivered, got a table full of parts just waiting to be installed.

Ex-UK is so quick! My experiences are 5 working days from the UK to my door. Packages will virtually be in Singapore overnight and then Aus, and the next 4 days are trying to get the parcel from Sydney through the last 250km. Makes you wonder.

Expected someone selling insulation rather than delivering the gears when the knock came.

Had to put through a question to Ashcroft this evening, checking against the invoice and going over the boxes, there is conflicting information on the website as to the input gear requirement from the Gear Set page (the FTC4850 for all xxG TC, minus a couple of exceptions) and Input Gear page (the FTC4962 for the Disco xxG TC, defender TD5 being the FTC4850).

Hoping this will not be an issue as I used the Gear set page for the correct gear but the Input gear page to get the bearing pressed on when ordering.

    1.003 Gear Set - Ashcroft Transmissions (ashcroft-transmissions.co.uk)
    LT230 Input Gear - Ashcroft Transmissions (ashcroft-transmissions.co.uk)

This should not hold the installation up based on the delivery times though as I would be sure that Ashcroft would rectify this immeadiately, it is the company they are.

Dave from Ashcroft got back to me and confirmed I have the right ratio, whew!

Now understanding that the replacement for the standard 1.22 input gear is the FTC4850 but for the CHANGE in gear to 1.003 it is the FTC4962 and hence the difference in the pages stating what they do.

Suppose they should have offered the option of the bearings and fitting on the Gear Change page.

Plates and supports off the production line today in England and then delivery.

Got notification that the Supports will be sent Monday, have a shoulder operation booked in for Tuesday week (28th) and from then it is six to eight weeks of no driving etc. so it now looks unlikely to get this done for a while post this.

Had opted not to get paddle shifters which at around $500 were a bit rich, however,

    Steering Wheel Shifter Paddle For BMW 5 Series 6 Series F10 F11 F07 F06 F12 F13 | eBay

Ha, these have gone up $25.59 since I got it last week...

Will require a bracket to be made, but this is pretty simple in terms of contructing to sit behind the steering wheel and fixed, not rotating with the wheel which would require a modified clockspring.

    Will do the walnut tomorrow!

Should add, I think I got the angle right as to usage, very natural to reach, push and pull.
