Well today and thanks Slunnie, got onto that FB page via my brother in law as to registering for the group, this is English so a little bit of a wait for them to wake up and get us on.

Also went to the HTG Facebook website, they have it would appear a major issue with a sacked partner wiping their database a few months ago. They are supposedly getting it back on line but the dates of the communication and progress were not what I call, inspiring. I am not the only disgruntled customer...

Had contact with Andrew of 8 Speed Auto fame in QLD as to the Turbolamic CANCTU solution and he is not of the belief they will be any good for the TD5 and 8HP (I know HTG have done it...). Have been over their website and they have a different way of going about things but their information is first rate and actually helpful. Also asked the company Turbolamic for assistance as they may have actually done such a conversion with one of the other 19 persons who have purchased the adaptors from Syncro.

So Shads from Syncro got back to me as to others and he pointed me to,,, facebook, urggggh!!!!! He also suggested that I again try Marcus at MWMachines for some guidance which I will do after this.

So as frustrating and tail chasing as this is, have been studying as much as possible the HTG solution. There are some titbits that interesting as to looking at the solutions for standalone engine ECU such as Haltech and Ecumaster etc. that being this

HTG SUITE has “Ecumaster EMU Black” CAN preset available in General Settings.

So guessing that they should also have TD5 in their general settings as well then as they do state they have OEM support but do not list the OEM supported platforms, they have done the TD5!
    OEM ECUs

HTG SUITE supports variety of OEM ECUs. If Your ECU is not listed please reach out to our Support Team and we will look into adding it’s support
    *LIST to be added*
    TO BE CONTINUED.

That said this has been unchanged since they did these pages last year and reaching out for support has only drawn blanks.

    So plan this weekend
Hook up 12V power supply to the HTG cable harness
Hook up the CAN IO to this, the gearbox and the Shifter
Get the Laptop and try to get Windows to provide driver for the CAN IO and hopefully the software platform will not drop out immediately after starting.

If the software shows the TD5 as being available to communicate / protocols then proceed on with install in a fortnight.

    It is a plan.

Was Shad advising the same FB group? Hopefully you have some luck this weekend with your tests!
    Cheers
    Slunnie

Now you mention that it does ring a bell. Have put a message out to the brother in law as to whether he has been allowed to join the group.

a few months ago José from td5 inside said in that fb group he used a htg and 8hp. Might be worth an email. Said something about the tune needed to be tweaked to suit the right settings
    info@td5inside.com is their contact.

The experiment did not work! The command to connect to the HTG IO CAN just brought up a screen saying that the other unit, GCU, was not found. the HTG SUITE is meant to work for both units. The rock and the hard place both got a bit harder.

Turbolamic got back to me and they are asking for more information on the CAN from the Engine and Gearbox ECU's which sure I can tell what information is going there, but have no inside knowledge of how they are running the CAN BUS protocol which will be unique to LR - there is the standard stream but the information can be accessed in different ways i.e. middle 4 bytes in the section versus read 4 bytes from left of stream etc. Interesting is that the CAN IO and GCU can both take a CAN dump, if you can connect of course.

So a couple of other long shots to go through, ya gotta laugh HA HA HA

Someone was recommended and he has subsequently reached out to me via the Brother in Law on Facebook, with supposed knowledge of the HTG CAN IO and the TD5 - trying to get to a platform, email, whatsapp etc. I can share info with him

I hope you can find some solutions. There seems to be quite a few unknowns with the conversion still.

Had contact this morning with someone from my BIL's Facebook page and have initiated the contact

-"...you need help with integration of 8HP with TD5. I can help you with that. Please contact me on whatsapp to discuss this further."

As you can no doubt figure, missed this weeks book in as well, so all things crossed that this may be ready for the opening of the VHC next month.

Nearly a month now since last post.

Do you have any news on your latest issue?
    Dave.

I was asked " Is it ignorance or apathy?" I replied "I don't know and I don't care."

    UPDATE

Have been busy moving out to Croydon (slow process of two things out for every one in) and returning to work post the shoulder op. The D2 has been on the back burner after getting news that HTG it appears has gone under. From the BILs FB account

    FB POST.jpg

So have not wasted a lot of negative energy on it, certainly looked like $6K gone down the drain with only the gearbox sale and LT230 adaptor being saleable. Reached out last week and got a reply from the contact given who could possibly help me as TUrboLamik have not subsequently replied since going to look for the TD5 protocols. So to cut this to just one volume, he has promised to send a 'Guide' to get the CANIO operational...

Once recieved and viable will immeadiately look to get the gearbox in, so heres hoping all phalange crossed

Had a discussion as to the installation and integration which I can now understand as to what I need and subsequently spoke to the installer who is getting back to me on a possible date.

So whilst the actual IO CAN unit will need to be programmed the first hurdle is an immobiliser in the Gearbox, who knew, I didn't. So have been investigating removal tools and possible ways of achieving this - anybody know a BMW dealer with such a tool???

Good thing I bought the wiring harness as this would be even more complicated with the correct wiring to and from the GB to IO CAN to the shifter. There will still be a bit of hit and miss as to which of the CAN's I am on with the connection of the shifter and TD5 CAN as I got no information on the harness wiring, but this is only a choice of two.

This is a screen shot of the MW Machines vid and whilst it is a rats nest on the console, there are only three inputs to the prototype IO CAN - two CAN and one power I assume -as well as a usb to the computer.

So feeling somewhat confident that it can and WILL get done.
