 Pretty good chance you'll break them, and they ain't cheap. At each end of the plenum there are drain holes which block easily. Check there if you think water is entering through the air intake. .
The cowl rarely has a total seal, and I doubt very much it's your issue. I drove mine with a broken one for some time, in Melbourne, in winter.
