a few google/facebook searches brought up others who had issue with water entering the cowl and infiltrating through the air vents underneath. That’s all I’m going off so far, probably ideal for it to sit flat anyway.

was a pretty solid down pour and it must be entering the fan as it was flicking water up out of the defogging/vents underneath the windscreen when on. A/C drain are clear to.

Welcome to the forum, leaks can frustrating but I have found them easier to solve in a D2 than a Defender.
For water to enter the aircon/heater fan housing, it would have to flow into the intake under the windscreen plenum cowl (first photo). I suggest removing your wipers and the cowl and checking the drains either side of the body as these are easily blocked by leaves. These are just a gap in the body that allows water to drain down the inside of each front wing (approx location circled second photo).

    Good luck.

    cheers mate!

I’ll be pulling the cowl and a pillar covers off for a look/clean.

Ive seen some attempts to divert water from the intake, would it be possible to make some sort of cover/filter to fit in there to divert and reduce how much can actually get in there.

My windscreen cowl has a small gap in one area near the middle, I think its warped with heat/uv. I'm sure I have plenty of water following down there, past the air intake.... it already has a lip around it to prevent water going down. As long as the water has somewhere to go, it shouldn't go down the aircon intake.

    Cheers

Pretty good chance you'll break them, and they ain't cheap. At each end of the plenum there are drain holes which block easily. Check there if you think water is entering through the air intake. .
The cowl rarely has a total seal, and I doubt very much it's your issue. I drove mine with a broken one for some time, in Melbourne, in winter.

Where did you get it? There's a bit of interest on here for sourcing those...
