Failed SLABS ECU or an earthing problem.
Undo and clean all the earth points between the fuse box and the battery.
That's about all I can suggest.

SubscriberDoes anyone have any ideas please. My 2002 D2 auto is behaving strangely (badly).
It is, at random, giving me the 3 amigos. This, of course, is no strange thing in a D2 but what is unusual is that there are no fault codes. I've even tried updating my nanocom ...
The only work I've done recently is to replace the serpentine belt tensioner and about 3 months ago the injector seals and washers so I have nowhere amigos related to get me started.
Anyone have any ideas bearing in mind that I will not be blindly replacing things that might be the problem.
Oh well, it is a D2 and I suppose it is character building and it is teaching me patients and tolerance.
Cheers,
Mark F...

SubscriberHi - How good is your battery. Mine recently started to play up - 3 amigos etc
Battery had seemed to be ok, but then i noticed it was getting slower to turn over
I replaced Battery - and the problems disappeared.
perhaps a battery load test??
cheers

SubscriberShack and Nobby I have already been down the check all ground connections path and just this very morning I got the battery back from being tested uphill and down dale. The end result is that the battery is good and all the ground connections are bright and shiny and clean as are all the fuse connectors. I was starting to think my labours had been successful when "bing bing bing" and my friends were back. I was even starting to think I may have an actual fault recorded but alas the old no fault found mate was still there.
Shack, I'm starting to think the SLABS ECU may be the only culprit left - aside from just waiting until a fault finally shows up.
Is there much jiggery-pokery involved with changing the SLABS ECU ?
Cheers,
Mark F...

I'll add my little bit. Check the inside fusebox. They are known to corrode, and mine caused many kinds of weirdness with warnings and things not doing what was expected. Reasonably common issue. Pull it out and check. It's not as hard as it looks. And it doesn't take much green muck to make it go stupid.

SupporterWith replacing the slabs unit, you will need a Nanocom or similar to select air suspension or not, and if you have air suspension you will need to enter and save the height settings from the original unit.
I'm not 100% positive that it is the SLABS ECU, but if you rule out everything else, it's likely the problem.
Try to get a late revision unit, they are better and also had better fault tolerance as well as slightly different behaviour with the CDL engaged (if you have one).

SubscriberI had one last year that was setting of the amigos on light application of brakes (squealing must've hit the right frequency)
