    Active Cornering Enhancement.

    Have a look at this.

Discovery Owners Club :: Tech - Active Cornering Enhancement

    It explains the lot.

ACE is also a relatively bullet proof system too believe it or not, about the only thing that may one day need replacing with the ACE system is the pump.

Yes it does make a 2 ton D2 corner like it's one rails.

The 2004 model is probable the best model Disco in that shape and best Land Rover I have owned. It's an auto Td5 with ACE 265/75/16 tyres winch 130k and last week I upgraded the ECU to give me a bit more power. The power increase isn't hugh but on the highway it's very noticable, I love it. Off road it's a very difficult vehicle to beat, it goes everywhere. Don't hesitate about buying it just do it. Oh and it's been very very reliable and well maintained.

    Cheers

    Love it!
Yes it has it's quirks, yes I've had the odd electronic issue (mostly due to wear & tear), but mine is an '01 with ~180000 k's on it and it's previous owner didn't really understand 4WD's enough to recognise and resolve some of the issues that came up. I am resolving these.
I've had Pajeros, Patrols and Cruisers all of which were fine vehicles but I just feel different in my D2 and I dread the day that I've worn it out because I won't know what to replace it with (that I can afford anyway)!

    Have a D2 2004MY (2005 first registered) from new.

Great car. Done nothing with it except a chip. The only issue I have is that the chipped engine is hard on the auto-box clutches, especially when the box doesn't shift out of overdrive on hills. It produces too much power and a couple of times I have had slipping clutches as a result (overheated). I now use 3rd to knock it out of overdrive (seems that overdrive operates in both 2nd and 3rd).

Took it off-road when I first got it to see what it was capable of and really impressed. Don't take it off-road now, have a Stage 1 for that.

Have had a few electrical issues but they were mostly covered by warranty.

Economy is good. Last long trip (about 1500 k's) averaged 10.3l/100km.

I now have a 01 TD5 Auto, up graded from TDi and am pretty impressed with it, nice and comfotable to drive and towing is a dream, I just got back from a 1500km trip pulling 2Tonne and was impressed that it sat on 100-110km all the way, off road well it depends on how extreme you want to go, for me touring and moderate off roading, the car is great and more than capable,

like everyone else I wont be selling mine any time soon,
