Like all the smaller LR V8's the faster you go, the better they like it. Its a big lump of metal to shift with only 4L,(most of the reason the turbo's like to stall just off idle)
anywhere around 3 in top and they turn into a great tourer.
it seems the 4.6 doesnt need 3 grand to work well.
hard to believe 600cc's would make that much difference.

according to the people we talked to, non standard cam can be a bit of an issue in terms of getting it to run right... they just rev a bit more and dont do much more, supposedly the std 4L is quite okay when it runs properly - ie i dont know what it will be like since my motor has been sick since i got it...
any other experience with non std cam in 4L disco?
hi everyone
so for the update, i got the car back last night
motor improvements in melb have done a great job repairing the block, they removed the liner, welded up a TWO INCH crack in the block and then fitted a new liner. Reconditioned the heads, honed all cylinders and did heaps of other things which I dont understand including cleaning the motor so it looks new.
My brother put it back together with new rings, bearings, lifters and cam. New radiator and major hoses. He then adjusted the auto's kick down cable which was a bit slack as well as the accelerator cable which was also a bit slack.
The result is very pleasing, car starts easier, idles smoother, has at least 30% more torque off the line, kicks back much sooner when you put your foot down and generally feels much more lively... it feels like there is a V8 under the bonnet instead of a small block 6cyl. Generally im only needing about 1/3rd throttle to move along in the traffic instead of having to stamp it to the floor and scratch my head whilst it thought about what it was going to do...
Its only 78kms old so far, running on petrol for the first 500km and then I can get back to happy economical LPG motoring.
