Hi Guys,
I bought a pair of rhino racks a couple of years ago when I bought my Disco II to get me out of trouble renovating the house. They do sit up pretty high above the roof due to the front bars. I toyed with the idea of removing them and getting the holes welded and respray the entire roof - its got a few deep scratches from the previous owner. The rhino racks are very good bits of kit... I've systematically tried to break them (unintentionally of course) with stupid loads and they handle very well. The boat anchor even drove off in it to pickup the grommets from school with half a dozen 3m lengths of 4x2 that I was about to finish unloading - no tie downs. I think they stayed put due to the racks, not her driving. The anchor isn't known for her mechanical empathy.
But I digress, I'm happy enough now to not remove the front bars as it gives me something to hold on to when loading the racks. I still wouldn't mind a full length roof rack though. Bars do have their limitations. Maybe another pair?IMG_0110.jpg
Here is my Tradesman Engineering Rack I got from Discowhite recently. Nice and low and nice and strong.

Here is a pic of my Disco with a G4 Oval tradesman rack fitted.
My Disco originally had the half roof rails installed. the previous owner had them removed. He had stainless threaded plugs made up to fill the holes and included a notch to allow wiring for roof lights to come up through the roof. Here are a couple of shots of the plugs.
How do people normally clean their roof of the Disco when there ful length roof rack is fitted. The Oval is a close fit and I can not get my hand with a sponge underneath the rack to wash it. It would be a pain to remove the rack each time I want to wash the Disco.
Cheers, Chris

Looking at getting a Rhino-Rack Pioneer alloy tray for my '04 disco 2. I have seen a few picks of them on this site and interested to know what length tray i'm best getting. I am looking at a full length tray.
I have a std Rhino 2.0m tray, it's not quite full length ... 2.5m would be full-full length ... 2.1 or 2.2m or 2.3m would be full length.

This is why I now have three roof bars and my full length just sits in the shed getting dusty!!! I like to polish the car every now and then to help prevent rust and I got sick of getting friends around to remove it then back another day to put it back on!! I just clamp an old security screen which i have braced onto the bars if a mesh base is needed!
