    Disco II Steering bump stops

Does anyone here have experience shortening the steering bump stops on a D2?

Is it just a case of unscrewing the ones in there and fitting shorter ones? Are there repercussions for any other components?

You can buy the parts off LR , or just shave 5(??)mm off the ends somehow,,

    apparently the difference is AMAZING

Awesome thanks Pedro. I'll pull them out and machine them down.

I'll let you know how it goes.

I took 8mm of mine, magic. Rubs on RHS while stepping through uneven ground like a really steep driveway entrance at full lock, but on level ground there’s no rubbing.

    BTW it’s a ‘99 TD5 with 245/70R16

If its not too much trouble & easy to do, can someone take a photo of the bump stops? Are they east to take off & shave?
    Thanks,
    Dave.

So...how long should the original bump stops be?

Some of us have purchased second hand cars and have no idea if they have been changed or not

Vehicles fitted with 16" wheels can have "either" 23mm or 28mm lock stops, vehicles with 18" wheels have 28 mm lock stops.

Don't take off any more than down to 23mm, otherwise you will get rubbing, and thats a silly idea imo just to improve the turning circle even more

If you take of 5mm down to 23mm, and it rubs, you can just add washers of around 1mm thick until its all clear, as some vehicles may need 24 mm for example.
