The electric seats in my D2 adjust in all directions and angles![]()
Question for all the knowledgeable people out there - are D2 seats height adjustable? I had a look at a 99/00 one on Monday and there didn't appear to be any adjustment.
If they're not adjustable, can the frames be altered to lower the seat?
Are there aftermarket seats that are lower?
May sound like an odd question but I'm over 6'3 and I find that the steering wheel is too low, even when adjusted to maximum height, and the top of the windscreen is also too low.
Thanks in advance!

Thanks.. at their lowest height are the electrics lower than manuals (which don't appear to have height adjustment).
Ahhh...well....yes...ummm
That's where the wheels all sort of full off..
I always presumed the electric seats didn't go as low as the manual seats because of the electrics, but i guess from your post that isn't really the case.
Im 6'2" and there really isn't much leg room, the seat just doesn't move back far enough, so i tend to compensate with the seat higher than it should be to get extra leg room.
The disadvantage to this is -
1. I cant use the sun visors (because i cant see where im going if i do)
2. I have to duck to see traffic lights
3. I have to look under the rear view mirror when doing left hand turns.
But that said i can fit under the steering wheel even with it on the lowest setting, but then my legs aren't very big/thick.
So i dunno, i don't think this post really answers your question, but i can tell you the electric seats have a great deal of adjustment ...
forward/back
up/down
Base of seat tilt forward/back
Recline forward/back
Lumbar support
Maybe you can take a D2 with elect seats for a test drive (car yard?) and see if they work for you?
Im only 5'7" And I find all the same problems that Grumpy mentioned. Ive gotten use to it now, but I feel for you tall guys. Funny thing is my Zook feels like it has heaps more room.
im 6 foot 6 and know what you guys are talking about, i just have the seat right back and live with it, I dont mind it tbh.
The manual seats have no height adjustment and it is not reasonably possible to change as the seat and base are one unit.
I have fitted recaros to mine with great difficulty and added an inch or so of rearward travel which helps a lot, however I like the height.

I recall seeing a guide on discoweb at few years back about reversing the seat tracks to gain some extra rearward travel, this might not solve the height problem but may solve the leg problem for some.
I just had a look on their site but it's changed, couldn't find the TECH section where it used to be.
I have just unbolted the track and moved the seat back 40mm and now that mirror isn't in the way and have room for my legs ,, with the steering wheel up just a touch i can see the gauges and warning lights again ,,,,,
simple ,,,
now i have to get the tracks off maybe a right to left swap
will let you know how i go ,,,,
Thanks again Roverlord off road spares
