After smashing my plastic rear bar on the weekend, and refusing to pay $350 for another plastic one that will just break again anyway, I've decided to have a go at making my own rear bar. I've done a few searches on some custom bars, and have some ideas, although I'm sure there are more out there somewhere. At this stage I'd like to design it so I can retain the factory rear fog lights and indicators, but some other ideas might convince me to sway towards LED lights. I'm sure I'm not the only one after ideas for a rear bar, so if some of you could post a couple of pics of your rear bar, it would be much appreciated.

... well it wouldn't suit a RR but if its not to heavy for a jeep then it will be fine for a D1...

the high brake lights wouldnt pass ADR, it would open far too wide to make it practical and I dont like the look of the flimsy barrel bolt to hold it closed...can you imagine that over a thousand or so kays of outback corrugations.
the shorties have obvious storage problems, but I think thats a bit too much weight right over the back of the vehicle in offroad situations. imagine how much weight it would be with that top rack filled, that big wheel, 20ltr fuel, hilift and what ever else you could pack on it.
It might suit the US, but definately not here

SupporterYeah I think its a bit chunky. Good for storage of items that are sometimes difficult to store, but you'd have to look at the functionality of it.

OK ...what about if you were to take the top part off and put the lights in the bottom of the bar....
