    Strange Occurrence?..Please help, im scared.

Hi all, i'm a little worried at the moment about my front tail shaft.

Now i know that there has been a bit of info on this but i think every case is different. So, i ll try to explain what happened.

I had a 2inch lift installed last week (along with other things). Now i didn't plan on doing the lift but i had to to clear the new tyres. The reason i hadn't planned on it is because at the same time as the lift i wanted to do the front shaft as a precaution.

So the standard (180,000kms) shaft is still there.

Now, after driving this afternoon i heard a funny sound from underneath (mind you i am on edge about it) then all of a sudden my M & S lights came on and it went into limp home mode. Now a couple of months ago i had a brand new inhibitor switch installed anyway so surely its not that.

So i pulled over promtly and put the car (td5) in park with the handbrake on and jumped underneth. I proceeded to shake the front shaft (no play) and twist it (turn it back and forth and there was play).

I jumped back in the car and restarted and the lights went out.
Off i went and not more than 400 metres down the road the lights and limp home mode returned. pulled over again and turned off the car and then back on again and they went out. I managed to get home at snail pace and look underneath again but i can't seem to pin point it.

Can someone please help to try and explain what is happening/ what to look for etc because im a nervous wreck on what is going on

    thanks in advance

I would very much doubt that you m+a lights have much to do with your front prop shaft. There aren't any sensors in that area that would cause the error. The m+s lights are usually indicative of a stuffed starter battery or some sort if short.

Check the shaft again and see if the bearing caps are loose or free and make sure when you check the shaft for free play that you grab the joint itself and twist rather than grabbing the shaft.

Also check you battery voltage. Should be around 13 something volts. Any troubles upon start up?
