I'll take a good look at it tomorrow, hopefully this chest infection I have at the moment doesn't do anything to halt my progress. Over the next few weeks, the disco will be parked in the shed and I will be trying to fix every fault that has been annoying me for ages. Will be doing some major servicing as well, and give everything a good look over. The car has done a lot of k's and it wouldn't hurt to change all the fluids and check bad wear and tear and see what might need to be replaced soon.

As far as this ticking noise goes, I'm really hoping its nothing major, like Mr Apocalypse says maybe its just a "land rover thing". My front diff hum could also just be a Land Rover thing, but I've had that since I've owned the vehicle and I know other people who also experience this hum in the diff.
Thanks everyone for your input, I'll let everyone know when I find the problem, just in case someone else also has the same problem.

a change of diff oil?, maybe add some moreys?,,,

as for clicking,,
my Brumby has clicked for the last 5 years,,
clicks all the time,
its only the cage,,

drivers side clicks,
passenger's side rips boots,

strange huh?

I would be more inclined to blame the front prop shaft uni joints.
Very common fault,any "chirping" sounds,much like a cricket???
If so get the double uni re-built ASAP as failure is catastrophic.
Plenty of info on front driveshaft failures on here,have a search.

I'd be looking to see if the spring slightly pops out at the front of the spring perch when the wheel drops.

I'd also look at the chassis/body mount behind the front passengers wheel so see if its cracked through the hole that the bolt passes through.

Also check the propshaft isnt hitting the Xmember under it.

If the lift is reasonable new, also check the shock bolts are tight.



You'll hear a CV from a series of rapid fire clicks rather than a single click. Either that or a bang and no drive.
