Your first post seemed to insinuate that the defender section was similar and no ones complained
and we're all a bunch of babies (we drive discoveries for a reason though...). All I was trying to do was highlight what I thought the differences were and why I thought it justified separate sections compared to the defender sections.

The thread counts are meant to show that there is more waffle to sort through for the two different models in the disco section compared to the defender section. But I would also assume there are more disco drivers on the road. Seems like now there a lot popping up in enthusiasts hands too which is good to see.

Being discovery owners we expect particular things to just happen too. Putting names in titles seems like a good idea but you just expect it to happen with a vehicle like the discovery. The defender though is a different kettle of fish, you know you have to change gear yourself. The disco can do that all by itself (I would have listed power windows, working air conditioning etc but the new defender changed all that).

I now realise I contradicted myself with some comments. The first example was talking from experience when I was first searching for options on upgrading 33"s. It seemed there were two different schools of thought, one that a body lift and complete guard chop were required and one for just a suspension lift and guard trim (as opposed to major hack and new arches). Took me a while to see they were talking about two different vehicles.

Now its just an inconvenience sifting through the different posts but I do really believe it would help new users no end by separating the two.
I was insinuating that the defender section isn't much different, but I wasn't insinuating that you were all a bunch of babies I think that is just how you read in to it
when you get reading in the def section there are a frightening amount of differences when you start lookng closely even the SVX has a lot of differences over an 07 PUMA.

I don't think it matters either way whether you spilt it or not becasue either way some people will be happy and others won't..it like you say will probably help the newbies..but there will be others that will winge that we have far to many forums as it is (that has been winged about a lot in the not so distant past).

but it all has its pro's and con's the pro being the newbies and people that don't want to traul posts..the cons being they will then probably only ever learn about the intracies of their own car....

I have learnt so much reading about other vehicles on here its not funny.

Still let the gods decide.....and Congrats on behalf of the deffer section if your family is finally split

So, bickering aside, what are the chances? Will a poll help me get this one across the line?
Like I said, as have many others, I believe there to be a significant number of differences between the D1 & 2's to merit a dedicated D1 & D2 forum...........take a look at the Ford Forum if you think AULRO is crowded. It's (both Ford and AULRO) a pretty simple web layout really and is easy to navigate to the forums you want versus being incredibly tedious to sift through many threads to find the one relevant to your model.

In the interests of keeping this debate relevant, please no more opinions about post counts in other forums etc. Unless you have a genuine reason to agree or disagree, please do not cloud the debate.........fair?
