I, too have given thought to this process, rather than renewing the headlining material. I thought I'd wait to find someone who's done it, so I can replicate it. Can I ask how you cleaned all the old orangey foam off, and whether you used specific primer/paint to do the job?

Hi Kev,

Cleaning old foam off was easy. Just used a stiff brush and it came straight off in a few minutes. Keep the vacum cleaner handy (and dont use the good one from in the house cause the red foam is really sticky).
I used acrylic primer from supercheap, and stoneguard spray paint.

Thanks for the info, Jack. Much appreciated! I reckon I'll go down that route myself. Seems like a lot less faffing about, and for a pretty good end result, too. The pictures make it look like a worthwhile job. :)
I'm reckoning on a couple of hours to remove the roof liner, would that be about right?
My D2 is in Bonatti Grey, so I'm thing about going away from the lighter grey roof colour and opting for something darker, instead. That should be a nice contrast. :)

Took me about 2 hours to take it out - but im slow:p
Did it very carefully.
Highly recommend you get one of those trim remover tool kits from supercheap or similar - like these ...

Made the job so much easier.
Also you need a helper to do the final bit and take the card out, as well as reinstall it so it dosent bend. My wife helped me for about 5 mins each time.

Just take your time and dont force anything, it all comes apart without breaking if your careful and use the tools.

I painted it in the afternoon, and reinstalled it the next morning.

Its well worth the effort - mine looks great and i never have to do it again :cool:
