    Unconventional solution

There aren't too many single DIN DVD playing head units around to replace it with. Any suggestions?
I actually went one step further than the media player, because I don't like the idea of spinning hdds in my car, and instead fit a 300w Pure Sine Inverter, a little wifi router, Apple TV, HDMI to RCA converter, and ran cables from behind passenger rear storage box, to the head unit, and split them to run into the centre console too. Now I can AirPlay music and video to my headunit, without relying on one of those ****ty headunit cables that always get destroyed by sun damage if left out when window mounting the phone, as well as plug in devices which don't have AirPlay. Wifi will also act as a wireless hotspot when I go camping and plug in a 3/4g broadband modem. (Didn't get an all in one unit because I had issues using a previous one without an Internet connection.)

Just so you know there are others out there with unconventional solutions to incar entertainment.

    It's been a while.

My son in-law made the rock-sliders and rear bar - how good is he?

    He's bloody brilliant.

I converted my Apple unit by opening it up (10 minutes old), fitting a USB socket and small DC-DC step down inside...

Mine is now powered by USB (so no inverter) and I do the same as you

The indicators have been rerouted into the reverse cluster? with yellow bulbs and white reverse LED beside the yellow bulbs - works a treat.

I wanted all electrical away from the bar.
