    1st time in 9 years

I engaged the cdl on my disco for the first time since it rolled out of the showroom. I have a 2000 td5 which has the cdl but no lever to engage ( I am on 2 waiting lists for 1). My dad bought the car new but never took it off the bitumen. Since joining the forum I have been slowly learning more about the car and have been wanting to engage the cdl just to see the difference. My disco goes really well off road and I have gotten used to the TC wizzing away when I am playing in the bulldust and the sand. It rained here a year ago and I took the disco out for a play and she coped well in the mud but was sliding around a fair bit. Today I had to take a load of sleepers and old pallets down the Old Ghan Track as the Finke Desert Race is on here next weekend and it has been raining here for the last 2 days. it was like driving a new car as the disco was unstoppable plowing through the mud like a train - it was bloody fantastic. She was so sure footed and it was much safer than with just the TC wizzing away. Bring on the cdl lever I say as I then had to crawl back under when I got back to the black top and it was still raining - not so much fun but hey you have to take the good with the bad. I had to share this great news as when I got home with a huge grin on my face and told my missus she just smiled at me like she always does when I get excited about boys toys - god bless her.
Anyway I hope everyone else had a great day too.
    cheers JP

CDL was one of the best mods i did to my old d2!

theres plenty of DIY ideas for a lever perhaps you should give one ago while your waiting on a real one, i hope your going for the d2a lever, i had an AMV electric one at first - big mistake.

I have reposted this in here as it is probably more appropriate - was in general chat.

    preachihng to the converted here..

yep they sure are unstoppable, well i guess within reason anyway. Glad to hear you are having so much fun in the sun sand and mud, not a bad way to live life in the lucky country.
I agree too.... what is with leaving off the lever inside the vehicle, bloody inconvenient climbing underneath to access CDL, but at least all the right gear was there to start with in this model.
Our RANGA... (burnt orange D2) has had a home modification lever put in by the man of the house ( his toy) and it is now pleasant to just activate inside the car... bet you cant wait to be able to do this and have much more fun.
    cheers

Only if the normal road has some slip, e.g., dirt or icy, to avoid transmission wind-up
