TD5 Fluids - the readers digest version

I know there are heaps of threads that cover various fluids and explain various standards and how they relate. This one is to gather my thoughts and pull it all together by name, brand and hopefully, decent priced suppliers.

So far, I have settled on Penrite Diesel5 but I need to find somewhere cheaper than Autobarn's $9.50/L

    Castrol Syntrans for the R380
Castrol coolant, but mainly because I have access to drums of concentrate / distilled water from guys who know their way around spotty green painted vehicles

What about Transfer case / Diff's
ACE fluid ? LR list it as a specific part number
    Brake / Clutch

    Hi
Its interesting, I was just wondering yesterday what fluid to use for the R380. Have also settled on Syntrans.
For the diffs and transfer, I use the same oil, 75W90 if I remember correctly, will double check and get back to you.
    Cheers

Hmm, at the time I borrowed the coolant I didn't really have much option and the price was right
Advice from a couple of LR places suggested OAT was not that critical as long as the coolant was changed regularly.

After more digging I think I will be looking for the Caltex ELC in concentrate form.

Just about to do a pump and complete hose change, so I guess that goes on the list of stuff I need to track down beforehand.

Is there any way to edit posts ? I wanted to update the top post to have the combined information.

    If not, AL1 of my fluids choices ;
    Engine Penrite Diesel5
    Gearbox Castrol Syntrans
    Transfer case Castrol Syntrax
    Diffs Castrol Syntrax
    Coolant Caltex ELC
    Brake/Clutch Any DOT4 fluid
Uni's Lithuim based grease, NOT a Moly based

    PAS / ACE ?

Bugger, looks like all posts can be edited... apart from the top post. :|
