Has anyone mounted their CB radio overhead in the disco. As mine is a base model the overhead plastic console has a good sized area to mount one. I don't know how long the plastic would stand up to the weight of the radio hanging off it. Any thoughts.

Mine came with a UHF mounted to the over head console.
It's a home made fit by someone who carred.
It mounts to the roof console flush to the rearmost edge.
Wiring has been run up left A piller and comes out a hole drilled above light in the tectangle(spelt wrong) panel.
Hand peice is mounted on a peice of light metal, L shaped, bolted to pocket hole.
The L allows it to hang down missing sun visor. I moved it from L/H to R/H side so I dont have to pick up mike to talk.
(and to stop pasengers hitting their heads when bounceing over sand dunes on the Border treak.)
All bolts have spring washers and light tin on inside of console to spread wieght.

We've given it a good shake in the high country with no dramas.

That's exactly how I had the UHF mounted in my first DII.



I just bent up a piece of aluminium strip to follow the contour of the over head console - It screwed in using the original screw holes just under the visors - I just used longer screws. The radio bracket was then riveted to the home made bracket and it worked like a charm.

The one thing I would say though.... having the Mic swinging around your head when it came off on rough hill climbs etc was a PITA.

So in the new vehicle I have a remote head unit mounted on the middle console:



That way I won't get hit in the head again - either by the Mic or the missus when it hits her
