    Prop Shaft Arrgggh

Ok Im heading into unchartered territory here, I have a slight vibration on the way to work this morning and at lunch time I slip under the car and yep a uni on the front shaft is "sloppy" not happy. The first thing I did when I got the car was relocate/extend the A/C drains to a chassis.
    Its a 01 TD5 Auto.
Can someone tell me where in Newcastle NSW can I get it rebuilt/repaired and approx cost as I wish to hit the beach in a weeks time.
Also if it is worth my while to attempt myself how long of a job if reasonably mech minded.

    Cheers Darren

Its got a whole lot more to do with lack of servicability than a bit of condensation,,,

try The Good Oil for pricing and part numbers,,
try yellowpages.com for a bearing joint,,

I sent mine to propeller shaft services in Condell Park or Blacktown last week, two day turnaround. They'll replace the uj's for greaseable ones and balance it.

Its not just the UJ's, the centering bearing in the hookes joint should be replaced as well.

If in doubt - throw it out.....

Have both shafts, with all 4 UJ;s, flex coupling and rear pinion bush serviced. A balance should be part of the job. Drive in drive out should be around $600 - $800 for a proper job.
