    oil sump bolt

    td5 s2 has anyone got a way to remove a oil sump bolt thats been rounded of, tryed vise grips but cant get a good grip,the way they have designed the sump you can only grab half of the bolt ...loosing pations grinder on standby

    i would go out and purchase another one ,then get the grinder find the middle of the thickest part and put i nice clean controlled slice then get your biggest screwdriver might pay to get the biggest you can get and hopefully you can un screw it??? spray some wd40 around the area first maybe it will loosen it up a bit ,that what i did a year ago ,maybe some else has a better way

    if you can get access to the bolt, grab a hammer and drift and lay into the head of the bolt. This helps shock the bolts loose(assuming its not loctitied) Then grab a slightly smaller or imperial socket and hammer that onto the bolt. Tighten the bolt slightly as this helps to crack the thread.

    If the bolts are loctitie a gentle application of heat and the ol hammer the socket on there trick is the way to go.

    be very carefully doing the above as any damage to the sump plug thread will cause problems in sealing and have being know to hair line crack/not saying it is a bad method but great care needs to be taken

    i read it as a sump bolt not the drain plug??

    a set of irwin nut extractors works and when they dont drilling it out through the center then using a drift extractor or easy out does.

    Grind it off & then forget about it.Mine had one missing from new.Eventually i told the stealers ,they hadn't noticed it was missing,& they replaced it.
    Never leaked at all,for the 2yrs it was missing
