Yep, believe or not but I got a better improvement from the intercooler hoses, than I got from the bigger intercooler I put in
Baz.
Got me some from TD5Alive in the UK, and gotta say, I wasnt expecting any great change from the old stock ones ( they were only 2 years old, as i have replaced them once already), but it appears to have made a diiference for sure. Kinda hard to explain but it feels like its running alot smoother under acceleration right up to 3500-4000 revs. I dont normally drive it that hard but just wanted to give it a squirt and see how it felt.
I did the EGR bypass just recently, so thought I would get some good hoses and use the oldies as spares.
So from me, a big thums up for this little mod. The hardest part was getting that little hose off the steel part of the intercooler pipe.

Are these the Samco Sport XDB hoses (Grey/Green ones) or just the standard Samco hoses?

These were just the standard Samco blue ones that they stock. I saw the grey and green ones there but thought for the cost the blue ones will be fine for me, and SO much better than the stock item anyway.
I didnt clean out the intercooler while I was at mate, I just wanted to get em on and see how it went....got a bit excited
I remember when I had to change the first set of oriiginals, the people we bought the car from charged us over 300 bucks to do it, but ya live and learn I spose !!
Thanks for that, was thinking I might get the XDB as they are listing a set for the Puma Defenders. They are more expensive than the standards (which is what I had on my D2a) but then they don't list a Puma kit in the standard ones.
I did contact Samco as I noticed the ad on the top of the forum and was told "they would be available soon". The genuine hoses on the Puma's are not as strong as the ones on a Td5 or Tdi, they feel very soft.

wow...even when I compared the new ones with the old LR ones when I installed them, I noticed how much softer the LR ones were, so I would hate to see the ones from the Puma, they must be Really soft..
Funny you should say that.
I had my tdi300 tweaked by TRS and new intercooler put in and thought increase was O.K but not great.
I just put in new silicone hoses I sourced from them at $270 and what a difference.
I hear the turbo whine and it spools up so much quicker, earlier and drives like a whole new car.
The old ones were not blocked or delaminated or nothing but I guess the hoses must just be smoother or harder or I don't know what but it makes a big difference.
Totally agree with you.
I believe all of the posts above but surely the standard OEM hoses do not 'bloat' (read: expand out) to the point where there is a noticeable pressure drop...
The first set of original hoses that I changed de laminated to the point where the car actually stopped/lost all power, when under acceleration and just blew a big cloud of black smoke out of the exhaust pipe.
