New MAF logging intermittent air flow fault

    Hi

I replaced a failing MAF sensor on my TD5 with a brand new Land Rover supplied genuine sensor .

Getting a really good Air Flow Signal on Idle 70 Kpa , and normal driving too and when under decent load at ~3000rpm its reading well over 600 . So I thought this was job done .

However when I kick it down hard the signal goes to 0 Kpa then leaves a "03-07 Air Flow Circuit (INTERMITTENT) " fault on the Engine ECU .

I spend a few days isolating when it triggers and I can drive it reasonable
normally its ok , doesnt flip out and no fault logged , its only when the trottle is floored that it does this .

I have already in the past re-routed and added extra protection to the loom because of the known issue with Air Con Pump fouling it so I dont think its this to be honest.

Anyone got any thoughts on this other than grab a new MAF under warranty.

This is on a TD5 Auto 2000 with the early ECU .

do you get a driver demand fault in that list?
and is there seimans on the bottom of the MAF?
do you still get the same fault under the same conditions with the maf unplugged?

I replaced my MAF a while ago only to find it was the more expensive AAP (ambient air pressure) sensor that was at fault. This is the one on the air box, disconect and take for a run, if it runs fine thats what it will be. Or to the point what it was for me.
    Cheers Lionel

Check for "Oil In The Harness"
I had that fault registered along with many others when mine had the leaky ECU.
    GOODLUCK

Thanks for replies guys . Injector Harness done many moons ago and clean now , Injector balances are good too so its fine at the moment in there. No other faults registered (other than the where has your EGR gone I think its stuck open that happens when .. its gone :P ) and all the other Fueling output is on the money too . Good point about disconnecting . But the problem will be it will be 0 all the way so that would probably ensure it is not intermittent .. maybe try putting the old worn out one just to be sure.

Boost pressure at full throttle and load is ?????

Sounds like you're overboosting and going out of range

I returned the MAF to landrover (not without a few issues as they didnt want to take at face value the Nanocom readings) and got it replaced and that has fixed the problem .

    Thanks

Tombie , Manifold Pressure is currently topping out at around 225 .
