I would just fix it.
Also, you want stiff shocks for offroad handling, not soft shocks.
edit: Shamo, are you mixing springs and shocks up?
Hi all,
Well today i went driving and my SLS in the rear managed to let itself down again, and then didnt come back up.... It has been doing it on and off over the last few months but usually only does it over night. It's just the rear drivers side that goes down usually but today both went down, and stayed down.
First of all, what do you think might be the problem? i was thinking that it might not be the bag because of it only doing it randomly and not consistantly.
Other option, which i am leaning towards is doing a coil conversion for the rear and getting some poly airs, hence letting me be able to run really nice soft spings when off road and can still load the thing up and then pump it up when i go away, the only problem with this is that i can't get cones, which is something that i really wanted to do....
I would probably get a whole new lift if i did this as the front end is pretty much at standard height because i think the guy i bought the car from bought the standard rate springs and not the heavy duty ones for the bullbar and they sag down... Problem with having the bar is that i cant buy soft springs there obviously and that will limit my flex....
Opinions needed!

Edit* Fixed up shocks to springs after slunnie spotted my mess up

It appears that i am (flu taking my mind over)
What would the benefit be of keeping the bags over the coil conversion?

Ride quality, better for towing, can lift the car at the push of a button.
Shamo,I dont have SLS but met a guy on the Gibb rv rd last year and he had put a hole in the airtube from the bags to the pump, and they deflated overnight..he had some metal joiners that he put on the line where the holes were, just cut the piece out and re-joined..
Not sure if your problem is something like that, but he carried about a dozen of those joiners, he reckoned they were a better thing than sliced bread.
Not sure if i've helped, but could be a hole somewhere...
cheers Ean
Thanks for the replies, i shall check the air lines tmrw, it will be an annoying and fiddley thing to do i think (especially being in the middle of having the flippin flu) but it will probably be worth it.
I just took the car for a drive then and it pumped back up, so it's got me what the hell is going on, if it is still up tmrw morning then i will be extra confused!
I don't do a whole lot of towing and i have only used the lifting up thing once and it didnt really make a whole lot of difference... i really want to get it flexing really well hence why i'm leaning towards the coils, plus i just like having something thats alot more bullet proof, and with the poly airs i can beat the towing/loading up for touring problems

I don't know that you are going to get more flex from coils. Check this thread for someone replacing coils with airbags to get better load leveling and got extra travel while he was at it.
The bags do deteriorate and get a bit thin and can develope a slow leak every now and then. Lift the rear end remove all the bits that will stop max extension (shocks, brake lines etc) once the bags are extended try the soap trick.
