I've got a bit of an idea about who can do what now, my next question is what is the maximum that the drivetrain can handle?

The limiting factor for both the manual and auto is their torque capacity. Both are rated to 380Nm. You can go beynd this for both, but be prepared. I was running 165kw/520Nm for a while through the auto, and thats sort of ok, but you must keep the auto cool otherwise the clutch packs disintegrate and then you need a rebuild. You can then used better clutch packs after for 3rd and 4th. The manuals I think will drop 5th gear with higher outputs.

The transfer case, propshafts, diffs and axles are per normal.

750 pre turbo is sustainable. 850ish is the momentary peak. Dont go over 750.

the manual r380 driven properly stands up to everything tombie had to offer when mine was done. (and it did most of it on ATF.)

I must admit I did not have the gauge before the upgrade so cant tell by how much the temps have increased or if these temps are actually similar to factory..
If I hammer it I can hit 840.
The probe is about 50mm upstream from the Turbo mounting flange.
I backed off after this temp was reached and the EGT dropped immediately and No, I only had this temp for under a second and barely 2 second above 720.
Normal temps between 340 and 660 from town to highway @130km and overtaking. Once established dropping back to 480

    Cheers
    Interesting figures.....

I have a TRS chip and the EGT has never been past 735.

I tow a 1300kg Jayco Hawk and when we hit a long climb the EGT temps reach 700 and the Madman alarm goes off. At this point I start counting and after about 40 seconds I give up and back off if I have too. Like I said the temps have never been beyond 735.

You also must use the same EGT sensor locations otherwise the temps are not comparable. When I was racing 2-strokes there was a quite specific dimension given for the EGT prob from the exhaust port.

Thank you all for your information, that gives me a bit more of an idea.

A mate had his XR6 Turbo chipped some time ago and had a switch installed so that he could switch between standard mode and enhanced mode, maybe that would be worth a look. I know once I get used to having the extra power there I might forget to take it easy!

the fuel gauge usually solves that problem.

Even then loaded up with the 2t trailer on bigred used to pull back 13ish/100 for fuel consumption. Better than some other vehicles in the same class when they run empty.
