That looks great. Similar to what I want to do to mine though I was considering fabricating one from scratch.

Not sure why it won't pass a roadworthy though

Yeah that would also be a good option, I guess you could do something at the laser cutters but that involves extensive CAD work. If I had a mill, the job would have looked even neater. The Ashcroft one is the same, although a gap is milled into the shaft and the lever placed through the shaft which allows for sideways movement of the lever. I probably could have done this without a mill, by drilling a series of holes and neatening it up with a file, but it seamed much easier just to place something around the shaft that allowed the sideways movement of the lever.
Didn't get time to finish this today, as I was busy with other things will try to have it done tomorow. Should look all factory with the leather boot back in place. All I need now is a D2a gear knob.

    Looks good Hendrik.
    What cable did you use?
I still have my original lever as I dont like the D1 type conversion.
    Too much slop.

..what causes the CDL light to come on...is it the switch in the transfer case output housing - is it just connecting it up to the existing loom.

    Cheers

The cdl switch in the transfer case provides an earth path to the SLABS ECU as well as the instrument panel. That is why the instrument panel light will still work when the SLABS wire has been cut.

Well the job is done, and words cannot describe how happy I am with the job. It works flawlessly, so happy

I snipped the blue and grey wire in the SLABS ecu a while ago and wired in a switch as well. So I can partially disable the ABS/TC/HDC whenever I want. I find this especially handy in sand, as I find the TC way too sensitive. It certianly gives the shuttle valves a good workout thats for sure.

    Hi Unlocked

    Hi Locked

And the light works in the dash too

Rudolf, I used a cable that I had laying in the shed, which to be used as a hand throttle cable on a tractor.

I have mill and lathe access

As for cables, I was going to see if I could find one that is suitable from a front wheel drive at a wrecker as many have cable operated gear linkages.

    Now you tell me...LOL
you can use a D1 or D2 auto shifter cable, I think that would work well too.
