Search for The Three Amigos
Hi all.. I've hunted around a bit, but probably missed the correct thread.. can someone point me in the right direction, or advise what this means?
The other day I had 3 amber warnings lights & 3 chimes go off, while i was driving at about 60km/h on a surfaced road. They were: TC, ABS and Hill decent (i think - downhill angled disco with ! ).
The stayed on and i felt some weird vibrations / clunks through the brake pedal. I pulled over. Turned of the engine. Restarted. all was fine (well.. no lights anyway). Has happened once before (oddly on the same road.. but that IS coincidence I'm sure).
Are these the 3 amigos? What's it all about? Can some on link the forum thread i should read in the Good Oil please?
Cheers.
Wil

You definitely have the "3 Amigos"
Here is link to my own experience & fix that will hopefully permanently resolve this issue. Perform the SVS ABSmodulator test to find out if this is the cause
or it could be a wheel sensor.

Good Oil also has info on this issue. Just go to Good Oil & search for 3 amigos or ABS modulator http://www.aulro.com/afvb/good-oil/3...3-amigoes.html .

Thanks everyone. Much appreciated.
Given that my Amigos are fairly intermittent and go away when I turn off the ignition.. what risks am i taking by delaying getting the looked at? Need the wheels a lot at the moment.
Cheers.
Wil
If they go away then probably not ABS modulator. They could be triggered by brake pad squeal, an intermittent wheel sensor, or even wiring harness to brake sensor. The ABS is still functional with 3 Amigos, TC & hill decent are affected though. Eventually logged faults will exceed allowable & 3 Amigos will be permanent. Checkout Electronic Diagnostic map to find someone in your area who can diagnose the issue.
Cheers..B
We have had the three amigos going strong for almost a year now. We have toured Tasmania without problems in it as well as daily driving. Gruntfuttock was kind enough to diagnose a faulty wheel sensor using his nanocom. It is on my list of things to fix........... one day.
I suspect a faulty wheel sensor would result in the ABS not working to its full potential and the hill descent doesn't work now.

you can check if its a sensor without using a nanocom,,,
