    Disco dilemmas...when do they end?!?!

    Last weeks dilemma:
Last weekend, key fob lost all associativity with Disco! Couldn't get in the car, and when I did, couldn't start the thing as I couldn't turn the immobiliser off.
Thank god for spare keys! And thanks again to Beefy for providing a helpline service!
Anyone NOR with a Nanocom that can re-program a D2 V8 key pls?
Obviously some liquid or cash compensation/payment is offered.....

And so, to this weeks dilemma:
My drivers window "stuck" in the down position over the weekend while driving up the freeway.
When pressing the window button, I can here the motor churning away as normal, but the window isn't moving. Is this the regulator? Found similar questions by searching, but they all seem to relate to a knackered motor, but mine is definitely working, I can hear it.

It seems to move up and down freely enough by hand, but the motor isn't shifting it.

Managed to get the door trim off pretty easy, and jammed the window up for security with a long bolt and some coat hanger wire!

Anyone know if this is a quick and relatively easy fix? Heading up to Kalbarri shortly for a long weekend, and putting the window down during the trip might be handy!!

The window fix is more important than the key fix right now....

    Cheers.

Re the window see my reply here: http://www.aulro.com/afvb/discovery-...t-working.html. I suspect your's is also the regulator has stuck.

As for the key fob. Replace the battery (CR2032) and see if that fixes it.

They are both not big deals and can happen to any car.
Well fluid or similar in fob is just that but new batteries should do the trick, I keep 2 spares in my centre console.

The winder, I had same and had to ring TRS to get a new lift mechanism as the rivets had seperated.
Door trim off, undo 4 bolts and replace, a bit dirty in there but it does not take long.

    Happy days.

as with most landrovers the problems generally start somewhere behind the front bumper and stop at about the tow ball when its fitted or the rear bumper when its not.

Hi Mine stopped working on the drivers door. There were 3 spotwelds that gave up. Removed reg, drilled out spotwelds & rewelded. Works great now. See pics. I welded the 3 spot and added another weld position 4 for a bit of extra strength.

Thanks for that. I have no skills with a welder; would pop-riveting do the job does anyone know? Got one of those....!!

    Hi
I dont think rivits will work, the mecanism would most likly bind up.
If you discover the welds have let go its a simple task to remove the reg. You should be able to get someone to weld it up for the price of a beer or two and replace it yourself. Especially easy if you have the Rave CD.

    Bloody hell mate!
Sorry I can't help out with advice - only moral support - both my front windows packed up within days of each other, thankfully they were one of the cheaper things I've fixed on 2 Rocks...
    Cheers
