Thanks kingo. I am looking for one of them. Havn't used it yet but I just bought my wife a Samsung Galaxy s2. I am going to use the Torque app on that. but it would be handy to have one for my Iphone.
Cheers

Was reading in todays paper the list of useful car Apps and there are 2 that allow you to link your Iphone with the car OBD system and monitor the car. They are Gopoint (free) and Dash-Command ($51.99) as well as the cost of the link connection.
Has anyone used these, do they work and are they useful?
Very interested in some feedback.
Cheers

I have a D3 tdv6, has anyone used it on this?

I've downloaded the Dashcommander app onto my iPhone and use a $25 dongle that fits into the OBD port to pair the phone with the ECU. Works a treat in my D2 as well as my mates TD5 Defender and my wifes Peugeot!!
The Dashcommander app is pretty much limited to "nice to have but not really relevant" parameters that don't really lend much diagnostic assistance such as fuel flow, speed-V-fuel usage, acurate speed etc but won't allow you to diagnose deep into the main or body ECU.
The Android phone has an app that is only $4.50 that is far better than the Apple product - I've used it and it outshines the dashcommander 10-1 but for the life of me.........I can't remember what is is called.
Search some earlier posts 6-8 months ago when I had advised people after using both apps.
Be aware - others have paid fopr the app then had significant difficulty pairing their phones with the dongle and trying to read the ECU...I was lucky whereas many have had no success!
Buyer beware I suppose - cheers
Edit.......The 'Torque' app is the one for Android phones......it isn't available on iPhone.

I was demonstrated the 'Torque' app on an Android phone and was impressed.....so as I only have an iPhone - I searched iTunes and could only find DashCommander.
So downloaded it at great expense......and still think 'Torque' is far more user friendly and has better functionality - in my opinion![]()
There is an app for iPhone called 'rev' it is supposedly better than dash commander. I have not used either though.
Used the Android app Torque and a few other OBD2 apps with a bluetooth OBD2 module, work a treat. Was able to reset the engine warning light on our L322 with it when it came on as a result of running out of fuel (doh!) without a dealer visit before i got a vcm.
I think the iPhone is a bit limited since with Apple's stupid restrictions you need a wifi OBD2 module rather than bluetooth one and the software is much more restricted in what it can do to meet their rules.
I guess "works a treat" depends on what your expectations are!
The Td5 ECU only supports the following via OBD:
- Trouble codes
- Calculated load
- Engine RPM
- Vehicle Speed
- Absolute Throttle sensor position
My reaction when I discovered this (on a D2 Td5) was more like "What a waste of time!!".
