I waved at a Grenadier on Saturday as it was coming down a hill with the sun behind it, so I couldn't see it properly. Should we just wave at them anyway?

I love starting the day with an ethics dilemma!

Personally I would/do. I figure they really wanted land Rover to keep making the old defender, but they don't, so this is the best they can do.

    SuperDuty?

If these numbers and specs are real, then the Grenadier has more than met its match. The GCM, and heck, scales ffs....

And, I expect the the "Lion" has more roar than we are used to.

Doesn't it? Pricing will be interesting. But I don't see it being as exy as the Gren.

Like a HiLux IOW? But Ford Aus, where these things are developed, are pretty good with suspension. It might be better than expected.

It's a big ask to have 2,600kg empty 4,500kg gross, on steel springs, and have it ride and handle well at both ends of that range, and given it's GCM, I hope it's biassed towards the heavy end.

The 2600kg is from the video you posted, I spoke to the local Ford dealer about it awhile ago, he seemed to think it would have a genuine 2,000kg payload, he also said he knows more from the press than from Ford, his guess was about $90k, we'll see how that pans out.

HI Lux is a work ute not a pretender. We have both at work, ours are loaded close to GVM.The Fords can't handle the weight without upgrades.I doubt this one will handle the weight either without upgrades, which is what happens if they are softly sprung,so they ride well.

It is also not ideal towing weights heavier than the vehicle, and is dangerous, but many do it and will continue to do it.

On another note i wonder if the NVES(New Vehicle Emissions Standards) will effect the price,or is it in a different category so won't be effected?
The NVES may get thrown out in a month or so anyway,if not i am sure it won't last once people wake up to what is going to happen if it continues.
