I think the fact that there was no mayday, any contact from the aircraft, and no obvious positional errors (although there has been talk of the plane turning around) these all tend to suggest a catastrophic mid flight failure.

Time, I suppose will reveal plenty, but recovery of the aircraft will be an interesting process.

I've read somewhere that jets behave strangely if you accidentally fuel them at the diesel bowser.

Or maybe it was a trial of "biofuel" that didn't go so well .............

Been reported that if that model jet lost both engines, at that height it should be able to glide for 20 minutes. Not sure if that fills me with confidence, though, Bob

The black boxes on the air France incident were found two years later and still working. Maybe they were long life battery's

I was more thinking some different fuel that would cause it to explode when the mixed av gas ran out and the other fuel became the main type going into the jet engines.

Just my simple brain at work.
