Anyone want to help in the search?
Crowdsourcing in the search for MH370
If any of the passengers had phone signal at all, surely they'd be smart enough to use the gps in their phone and put an SOS out... I think it's a myth...
What does a phone ringing out prove? Just that its out of range?

So there's now talk of the flight turning and heading west, which was picked up by military radar. If this is the case, you would have to wonder why it has taken 5 days from disappearing for the military to divulge this info.
And from the latest Malaysian airlines press release
MartynQuote:
Malaysia Airlines has become aware of the allegations being made against First Officer, Fariq Ab Hamid which we take very seriously. We are shocked by these allegations.
We have not been able to confirm the validity of the pictures and videos of the alleged incident.
Wouldn't be the first time pilots had allowed children in the cabin and having an accident. I think this happened with a Russian aircraft.
You have to wonder why in this day and age why airlines are not also tracked automatically by GPS - afterall most phones can be tracked if the system is turned on.
For sure the aircraft had its transponder etc but that mainly responds when interrogated by a radar station where an independent GPS that is recorded centrally somewhere in the world could track aircraft - no an expensive project at all.
If the aircraft did go west that should have been tracked at least initially by air traffic control - they would have followed the transponder track until out of range.

By the way on the phones thing. The ringtone happens at the exchange NOT produced by the receivers phone so ring tones prove nothing.
