Qld Air Museum... new website and DC6 !

    The website has been updated

    QAM Website

but the big news is we have a DC-6 waiting in South Africa for us... raising money to try to get it back here to Qld.

    QUEENSLAND AIR MUSEUM - DOUGLAS DC-6 VH-BPG

    How it looks now...

    What it could be again.....

(static display though, not flying sadly)

but restored in BCPA colours as per this picture taken in Sydney

QAM is seeking sponsors to help us bring this iconic Australian airliner home as a tribute to the Australian airline that flew the Pacific before Qantas and gave the Southern Cross Route its name.

If you feel you might be able to assist in some way please contact the QAM DC-6 recovery team by sending an email to dc-6@qam.com.au
It's not broken. It's "Carbon Neutral".

I am amazed to see it was still flying in 2006.

I wonder how many hours it flew. Is that info recorded?

The museum has had it 'on it's books' for over 4yrs now.....is their any progress on getting it back to Australia?

    Does anyone know possible costs?

I am volunteer a Caboolture War Birds Museum which is a flying museum, with a Wirraway,a Harvard (SNJ) a WinJeel and a P51D Mustang,(ex-RAAF A68-110 purchased about 14/5 years ago as a project from a South American Country),as well as an Iroquois (484),the chopper is de-commissioned but could be a goer in about 8 hours, there is also a C47a/DC3 now on the field, belonging to the owner of the aircraft maintenance company, they hope to run up the starboard engine on Saturday then a check over before starting the port engine, the aim is to have a ground runner by March and possibly in the air within 2 years, this is the one that arrived from Mareeba by road in January.
