    That looks like some type of jet engine and that tailplane is definitely from a fast aircraft, possibly a commuter jet aircraft. The scene doesn't look like somewhere high in the Andes.

    The linked article calls the aircraft a jet then shows a propeller and says DC3.

    I'm a bit confused.

    Considering the photo above has buildings & powerlines around it, I think it's a generic 'file' photo of a plane crash.

    I had read the book 'Alive' not long before flying into Lima in 1979. The story was very much in my mind as I flew in a shabby, badly maintained aircraft belonging to Aeroperu.
