    Door chime and gearbox learning

Hi folks. I've gone and become a LR owner again since I missed my old Disco 2 so much.

Hopefully this low klms 2013 SE Auto Freelander 2 will keep us going for a long time.

I love it so far.... but the bloody door chime is driving me nuts.... I've looked around the net and the manual but can't see a way to disable it. Anyone know a good way?

Also I don't think it's true, but I was told the vehicle 'learns' the driver habits and changes gears accordingly. I think that is wrong... just checking.

We are going to get a Dealer to install a towbar... I read somewhere that the connections can be placed too crowded together making it hard to put the safety chain shackles on. Anthing I should ask for at the dealer install?

Lastly the global window close on lockup... it doesn't. Am I doing it wrong?

Thanks for any advice and also for all of you who have posted previously and provided such good info for folks like me just getting started.

    Welcome.

I've only been a Freelander 2 owner for a short time myself. do var It's been 100% reliable and I am very happy with it.

Mine does not roll up the windows when you lock the doors, but yours is a bit newer so it may differ.

I obtained the towbar electrics kit from the UK and will fit a haymann reece towbar myself. If you can find someone with the right gear you can "tell" the car the towbar is there without visiting a Land Rover Stealership. 😁

The motor/trans is the real attraction for me. My wife's Peugeot 407HDI has the PSA 2.0 DW10/Aisen 6 speed which is similar to the PSA DW12 / Aisen trans fitted to the FL2/Mondeo etc.

Thanks fellas. I took it today for a hour and half drive up the highway and then a few kilometres up a beach. Went well and effortless. The consumption calc from actual Ks to litres pumped in was 7.5 ltres per 100klms. Very happy with that.

I noticed that the accompanying Colarado although appearing higher in general is about the same clearance under front engine and box etc.

In other words he had done a similar amount of sand smoothing as we did. Soft sand had the occasional bit of wheel spinning but the shifting power kept everything easy peesy.

    Very happy so far.

I have a 2007 and the global lock on the windows ,you have to hold down the lock button for a few seconds. It also works for unlock to open the windows.
The one touch windows have to be set to get it to work.

I've tried the multi second press but no go. I read somewhere that in Australia its disabled? You mentioned setting it... I can't find where... do you recall where to do it?

    Thanks to all who've helped.

Can you open the windows by just pressing the Window switch or do you have to hold the switch down? If you can just press the switch the windows are set.

I have to hold down the lock button on the fob for about 10 seconds before the windows will go up.

Ah... Thanks woko... I will check that out.

On the gearbox learning.... A review I read or saw yesterday said it had adaptive gear changes.... and driving it on the weekend in a variety of styles ( dawdling around a new area, finding out how much acceleration it had... Etc ) I do think it changed gear in the style of the last few minutes throttle settings. So maybe it does adapt to driving style. Or maybe I am just imaging stuff...

I find the owners manual bloody annoying.... It explains features then you go looking and you find out you don't have them.... most manuals would put the models involved in parenthesis so you know if it's yours or not. It's faintly disappointing when you find out you don't have front sensors or something... (a first world problem if ever I heard one....)

Having watched a few videos of detailing I'm now idly considering changing my habits back to that young bloke I once was with a meticulously cleaned and polished motorbike. My cars of recent decades get heavier as they collect more and more of the environment....

This Santorini Black beauty could look very nice if I put some effort in....

I had a play with my FL2 and the remote yesterday. Note that mine is a UK import and hence it may not relate to an AU delivered car.

    - Hold down the UNLOCK button for a few seconds and the doors unlocked and all the windows rolled down. Lovely.

    - Hold down the LOCK button and all the doors locked and the FRONT windows only rolled up. The rear windows were left down! the only way I could roll them up again was stick the key back in the dash and switch it on or start it. Not so nice!!

    Regards,

    Regards,
That's what my 07 does but it will roll up all windows.
Does your one touch windows work for both up and down for the rear?
If your windows are not set on up or down after disconnecting battery etc, the windows will not remote open or close. If open is set it will open but not close and vise versa
