As per trains planes and automobiles
John Candy said to Steven Martin " Ah it doesn't look too bad,.... yeah they'll be able to buff that out"
    and
"Do you think this vehicle is safe for highway travel?"
"It may not look much officer, but the radio works just fine"

they did this on mythbusters, and despite the extra weight they added to a car to make large golf ball holes in it, it still used 11% less fuel. If you drive it around a bit you should check it out.

BTW, the dents look about a quarter of the size of the ones we have in cars from the Melb storm. The environment is helping us to save it.

And so they should, its only panels...

Why should everyone pay massive premium rises to cover some cosmetic damage.

tombie I pay my premiums, always have. If some freak thunderstorm catches me out in the open and smashes my beloved Disco with mutant hailstones I am going to claim on my insurance.
I have never claimed in 20 odd years of driving so I don't feel too bad about it either.
What I do feel bad about is probably losing my peach of a disco...it was a good one. Just went and looked at an '03 auto TD5 with 125,000 kms. The brakes were shot, had four bald tyres, rego was due, the three amigos were loitering around the dashboard and it felt as loose as one of those rip stix you see the kids getting around on these days.
That was the best one I have seen over the past couple of days.

Just read this reply and think you misunderstood the last response above.

I have no problems with people claiming on their insurance. Especially when copping a hiding from golf ball ice

What I dont like is those people who insist on a new car over a few repairs.... Or insurance companies that write off repairable vehicles just because they are under X years old.

Like your first post, it needs panels fixed... So the RRS above should get the same treatment....

So the outcome is that your vehicle is being repaired?????????

Nah they took it off me Tombie, it was a pitiful display, they had to unclench my fingers from the doorhandle and drag me away with the wife and kids trying not to look me in the eye....terrible thing for any child to witness.
Ended up buying the '03 auto and several thousand dollars later I am approaching a semblance of decency, just did the oil pump bolt and cooling system, engine and trans flushes yesterday and chased the seedy mexican fellas hanging around the dashboard away with a new set of hubs and brakes Looks like I will be able to get a replacement bar for it over the next week or so thanks to Hamish71 and then we will be back on the trails.

My old girl works in a Perth panel beaters, if the interior or electronics/ wiring get soaked, through smashed windows, they have been writing them off. Too many issues down the track when everything starts to rot or corrode

    Cheers,
    Willsy
