Thread: Shock absorber bushes

If your talking about the pin eye bushes.Pedders have then for $2.50 each.How do I know?Just brought some tonight for my truck`s shockers.Plain black rubber bushes that do the job fine.After removeing the old bush I put a bit of grease in the eye.Made inserting new ones way easier.

Yep that there are the ones we are all both on about.So Pedders is a good option for them.

So what kinda grease should I have on hand for this (and other) jobs?

Can the new bush just be pushed in by hand or is some tool required ?

No special tools,just a medium size screw driver will do,sense of humour and a few cold ones.They seem to push out easy enough.Just a smear of gp bearing grease or that grey hub grease in the eye helps get the new bush in.Do need to work around the bush with the screw driver a bit,but should go in easy.

Now the bad news...

Rubber bushes are made of EPDM and react to oil, so your GP grease will have already began to attack the bushes, softening them and making them tear like cheese.

LTRs need Poly bushes..... ARB stock them.

Take shock off, hold above the new bush on a concrete slab.

Hit shock with rubber mallet to drive the eye over the new bush.

(Or if your in the heavyweight division) just stand on it!

2 flat boards and a G-clamp also work.
