Did you really think the first post was belittling his effort? I read the thread title as a little bit of humour.

And yet when kids are in teh streets at night we always say their parents soudl be guiding them better in life / they should be doing something constructive.

Stop whinging about kids accomplishing things. Get aout there and accomplish something yourself !
